Passed away peacefully at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, on 15th January 2026, aged 77, after a long battle with cancer. He faced his illness with great courage, humour, and stubbornness throughout. Loving husband and best friend of Karel, adored dad of Emma, Jamie and Perry, much-loved papa of Riley, Oakley and Armani, father-in-law of Daniel and Abbie, and cousin of Christine. Horty's funeral service will take place at the Cobo Community Centre on Thursday, 5th February at 1.00 p.m. Everyone who knew John is welcome. Please feel free to wear casual attire (hard hats and Hi Viz welcome). Family flowers only please but donations in lieu may be sent to Les Bourgs Hospice, Andrew Mitchell House, Rue Du Tertre, St Andrew GY6 8SF or via lesbourgshospice.org.gg
